Welcome to MAKALU 2001  

We are the first Chilean Expedition to climb Mt. Makalu (8463 m / 27767 ft. ).

The fifth highest mountain in the world, located in the Himalayas, in the border between Nepal and Tibet.  

A group of seven Chilean Mountaineers made this first successful attempt. And in may 12, 2001, three members of the team reached the summit. One of them without supplementary oxygen.
